Cuqui Jakob remembers her grandfather’s, Christofredo Jakob, anecdotes. He was an important German neurobiologist hired by the National Hospital of Alienadas in order to modernize their mental institutes at the beginning of the XXth century. Returning to the hospital they discover some lost photographic collections that refer to old curiosity cabinets : dissected animals, brain cuts, mountains, explorers, and hundreds of portraits of interned women. In a disruptive way, Cuqui and her daughter reappear with contradictory stories. Mother and daughter become rivals, and so it happens with the positivist scientific discourse, the madness and the myth of a Condor that overflies the ruins of these files.
Guadalupe Gaona is photograph and Art Degree graduate. Since 2002, she develops artistic projects in relation to photographic files, history and film. In 2009 she publishes a photo and poetry book Pozo de Aire, adapted to film in La idea de un lago (2016, Milagros Mumenthaler). In 2010, the mexican publishing house RM releases her photographic work Quieta. With Ignacio Masllorens she directs Atlas (2021), her opera prima.
Ignacio Masllorens studied Image and Sound design, at Buenos Aires’ University. He directed the feature films: Fanny camina (2021, co-directed with Alfredo Arias), El teorema de Santiago (2015, co-directed with Estanislao Buisel), Hábitat (2014), Martin Blaszko III (2011) and other short films such as Trainspotter, Historia de una casa and El Humor. His films have been shown at Anthology Film Archives and la Cinémathèque française, as well as in festivals such as BAFICI, Biarritz, La Habana and Oodaaq, among others.
