How can a healer's lineage survive without a forest? A filmmaker searches for her roots in the land of thirsty pines.
Through a delicate perspective and reinterpretation of space and roots, "Desierto Verde" emphasizes the environmental destruction that spans different parts of our country, particularly the Maule region. At a time when these issues need to be addressed and carried as a banner of struggle, Meliza Luna Venegas's film not only addresses these conflicts in a sensitive and intimate manner, but also addresses the connection we have with the land and family heritage, and how mutilating a territory destroys its nature and some of its ways of life.

Meliza Luna Venegas (1991, Talca, Chile) is a visual artist, filmmaker, and educator. Her work combines performance, sculpture, installation, and essay film, addressing the relationship between landscape, memory, and territory. Her work has been exhibited at venues such as the Media Arts Biennial, MAC, and Galería Metropolitana. In 2025, she premiered her first feature film, "Desierto verde," in the DOK Leipzig competition.
