In the XV century, in Portugal, the monks built a wall around a forest and prohibited entry to women. But the hands of the living can't control everything.
Catarina Vasconcelos (Lisbon 1986) is a portuguese filmmaker whose short film debut, “Metáfora ou a Tristeza Virada do Avesso” was first screened in 2014 in the Cinema du Réel, where it was awarded as Best Short Film. Her first feature film, “A Metamorfose dos Pássaros” was debuted in 2020 in the Berlinale, and therefore received multiple awards. Her last film, “Nocturno para uma floresta” debuted in 2023 in the Festival de Cine de Locarno.
