Two marginalized characters who find it impossible to fit in, and a kind of love that defies definition, all while loneliness pervades their lives. Death is ever-present throughout the film, while a disquieting tenderness serves as a veil for this story. And, of course, the blend of fictional and documentary elements means that 'White Snail' constantly pushes the boundaries it presents. Using parts of its protagonists' real-life biographies as raw material, the film achieves an unusual balance between observation and staging, blurring the lines of genre to speak of what endures: the vulnerability of the body, the impossibility of love, and the need to keep looking even when everything seems to be fading away.

Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter are a directing duo and founders of the Vienna-based production company RAUMZEITFILM. Their first documentary, 'Space Dogs' (2019), premiered at Locarno and screened at over 70 festivals, including FIDOCS. They then directed 'Dreaming Dogs' (2024), an experimental feature film that garnered attention from international curators and festivals. Their latest film, 'White Snail' (2025), had its world premiere at Locarno.
