From a profound admiration for the landscape, the observation of the pristine wilderness is proposed as a silent response to pain. Sharunas Bartas (1964, Šiauliai, Lithuania) is a filmmaker who graduated from VGIK Moscow State University in Russia. In 1989, he founded Studija Kinema, Lithuania's first independent film studio. From its inception, his work has garnered critical acclaim. With 'Three Days' (1991), 'Koridorius' (1995), and 'Few of Us' (1996), he constructed a unique and sensitive universe, which he revisited with 'Peace to Us in Our Dreams' (2015) and continues to explore with 'Laguna' (2025). The Centre Pompidou in France and other venues in countries such as Poland, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico have held retrospectives of his work. This year, he premiered 'Back to the Family' in Rotterdam and 'Laguna' in Venice.
