Logline

A young indigenous man is trying to save his language from extinction. Fernando is a voice artist who dreams of dubbing The Lion King to Quechua.

storyline

Fernando Valencia is a voice artist from Cusco, Peru, who dreams of dubbing Disney animated classic: The Lion King to Quechua, the language of the Incas. His pursuit will test his commitment to his native language and culture. It will also make him question his role as a father and the cultural heritage he passes to his young son Dylan.

Augusto Zegarra

Augusto Zegarra is a Peruvian filmmaker with a film degree from the University of Utah. In 2014, his short film Wiñaymanta won national prize in Peru. Hakuchu Munayta his first feature length film has the support from the Ministry of Culture of Peru, Sundance Institute and Cine en Construcción.

Claudia Chavez

Peruvian producer with more than 7 years of experience. She produced the short film The Catch, that premiered in Tribeca. With her film projects she has been selected in Campus DocsBarcelona, ChileConecta, FICG and the Sundance Producing Summit.

Paloma Iturriaga

Peruvian producer, specialized in documentary. As a creative producer she has won grants from the Ministry of Culture of Peru and the DFP Sundance Institute. She has participated in DocsBarcelona Industry Market 2020 and the Sundance Producing Summit 2021.
