The Focus section of FIDOCS 29 is dedicated to three figures who personify different forms of documentary subversion: the Argentine-British filmmaker and artist Jessica Sarah Rinland, Taiwanese artist and filmmaker Su Hui-Yu and Cecilia Mangini pioneer of post-war Italian documentary cinema.

The Focus of Jessica Sarah Rinland It brings together a selection of short films she directed between 2011 and 2022 and a program of works by the Argentine experimental filmmaker Narcisa Hirsch, curated by Rinland herself. 

While the Focus of Su Hui-Yu It includes a selection of four of his short films made between 2017 and 2020 and the screening of the feature film: 'The Trio Hall'.

Finally, the third Focus dedicated to Cecilia Mangini, It brings together a selection of eight of his short films made between 1960 and 1974, which you can see in two screenings.
