FIDOCS 30 features three authorial focuses and another dedicated to restored classics. The first reviews the work of Portuguese filmmaker Susana de Sousa Dias, Guest of Honor at this edition; the second is dedicated to Argentine filmmaker Federico Luis, winner of the Palme d'Or for Best Short Film at Cannes 2016; and the third is dedicated to American filmmaker Alan Berliner, with a selection of four films.

He Foco Restauraciones It offers a selection that includes five films by the Armenian filmmaker. Artavazd Pelechian, restored by the Bologna Film Archive; the German documentary 'A Minute of Shadow Does Not Blind Us' by Walter Heynowski, Gerhard Scheumann and Peter Hellmich; and three short films by Sergio Bravo, a founding filmmaker of Chilean documentary —'Mimbre', 'Trilla' and 'Día de organillos'—, whose restored versions will be shown in a free screening, on the eve of the centenary of his birth.
