storyline

Las ruinas nuevas is an experimental essay that takes the form of a diary of archaeological notes to question the current state of the relationship between electronic waste and historical memory. If obsolete technology becomes a lost hieroglyph that has to be deciphered... how will the history of the future be written?
Manuel Embalse

Buenos Aires, 1991. Member of Antes Muerto Cine. He has a degree in Audiovisual Arts from the U.N.A. and participated in Berlinale Talents Berlin 2022 as Editor. In 2020 he released his debut feature as director ¿Qué hago en este mundo tan visual? and Las ruinas nuevas is his second feature film.

Joaquín Maito

Joaquín Maito is part of Antes Muerto Cine. He is a filmmaker, producer, photographer and art director. In 2012 he premiered with Tatiana Mazú El estado de las cosas at Mar del Plata IFF. In 2018 he premieres Retrato de propietarios, award for best debut feature at the Ji.hlava festival.
